Renewal, Restoration of Status and Exemption

Renewal of status – Temporary worker and others

  • For any request made before the expiration of the status, the applicant remains in implicit status during the application processing procedure. He can continue to work or study.
  • If he leaves Canada, with the exception of the United States or St-Pierre-et-Miquelon, the foreign worker or student cannot return to work or study in Canada until their renewal application has been accepted. The temporary resident who cannot return to work must convince the border services officer that he has sufficient means to support himself.
  • Renewal of status can be done at any point of entry into Canada.
