The Canada-Colombia Free Trade Agreement (FTA) was signed in November 2008 and entered into force on August 15, 2011. Chapter 12 of the Canada-Colombia FTA is almost identical to Chapter 12 of the FTA. FTA between Canada and Peru, but it includes a section allowing the issuance of open work permits to the spouses of traders and investors, people transferred within a company and professionals and technicians. This differs from the Canada-United States-Mexico Free Trade Agreement (CUSMA) which did not cover spouses.
